Practice Trip

Knowing we will be living out of suitcases for 2 months, we decided we needed to try it for a weekend and see what we were forgetting/not thinking about.

We learned a little bit--we can't have a big kid and a little kid share a travel on sized suitcase like we'd hoped. We thought of some things we needed to pack that we hadn't thought about before.  But really, we just had a fun trip.
It was supposed to put our minds at ease, instead, it made me freaked about feeding this mob on the road.  I've done a bit of research but need to do a LOT more.  I know it'll work out, I'm just glad we'll have a few days with cousins before I have to go to the grocery store by myself.

Just like on our trip, we had some significant milestones on our practice trip.  With the change in conference--now 8 year olds and older are invited to attend every women's meeting every 6 months--both J and O got to attend for the first time!  We couldn't find a chapel open in the little town we were staying at so we just had to watch it on TV in the condo.  It was still a lot of fun and we had a great experience!

Half of the luggage.  New concern?  Fitting all the luggage and people into the vehicles we're driving.

And the best part of any vacation with kids this age, the pool.  It's not a vacation unless you get to swim!

And now the blog is up to date!

Passport Time

We know we'll be spending lots of time on our trip waiting for various things so we decided our first preparation task would be to go get our passports.

It's amazing how slowly this guy worked!  Or maybe it was just because we were trying to wrangle six bored kids in a post office.   Either way, it took FOREVER!

If the private sector tolerated workers like this, they would go out of business very quickly.  He knew what he was doing, but he was SOOOO SLOWWWW and hardly friendly at all.

The kids were losing their minds by the end of the ordeal but we walked out of there with our applications complete!
